This Is Your Permission To Embody Your True Self
It’s time. You deserve it.
Sometimes, we go through a period of transition that forces us to shed some pretty heavy layers — the deepest, darkest layers we’ve been carrying for years.
This period is called the dark night of the soul. It takes place when we’ve outgrown our old life — when our old self is slowly fading away but our new self hasn’t yet materialized.
A dark night of the soul makes us feel incredibly lost, confused, and uncertain.
We feel like we’re on the edge of a massive transformation, but we’re not sure how to make the leap. We have more clarity than ever before, but we don’t have the strength we need to actually take action.
We finally have the courage to be honest with ourselves and reconnect with our true desires, but we have no idea how to implement the changes we want to make.
The reason why this happens is simple: we’re grieving our old self. We’re letting go of the person we thought we were at the surface of everything.
Most importantly, we’re trying to give ourselves permission to be authentic and follow our inner guidance — which is not easy after we’ve spent years putting the needs of others before our own.
So, let’s give ourselves some credit.
This Is Your Permission To Embody Your True Self
This is your permission to focus on yourself — your needs, your desires, your goals, your dreams, your well-being.
This is your permission to ignore the noise around you and turn inward. To rest, to breathe, to sit in stillness.
This is your permission to set boundaries. To choose how you want to spend your time, and who you want to share your energy with.
This is your permission to say no. To leave your people-pleasing traits behind and get clear on what you really want. To embody your values, and your priorities.
This is your permission to get in touch with your inner guidance system.
Let’s be honest. Deep inside your soul, you know who you want to be.
You know what lights you up — you’ve just spent too many years disconnected from your desires. This is your permission to reconnect with them.
Perhaps it’s that burning passion you’ve always had for painting, writing, dancing or singing, but that you never believed was worth pursuing.
Perhaps the relationships you have in your life are not as healthy as you’d like them to be, and you need to let some of them go in order to improve your environment and follow your dreams.
Or perhaps you have some deep-seated emotions that you’ve been suppressing since you were a child, and you now need to face them.
Whatever it is, face it. Be honest about it.
You deserve a life filled with freedom, passion, and purpose.
You deserve to wake up every day feeling excited, and to go to bed every night feeling accomplished. You deserve to have your needs met, your feelings respected, and your work acknowledged.
You deserve to live a life you love. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise.
You’re not supposed to keep yourself small.
It’s Okay To Not Have It All Figured Out Yet
A dark night of the soul is characterized by two simultaneous, contradictory feelings: a huge need to rest, and a huge need to take action.
You feel like you finally know what’s best for you — because you’re finally reconnecting with your authentic self — yet you feel incredibly exhausted.
This is normal. Life as you knew it has completely changed and you’re redefining your whole identity. You’re letting go of what no longer serves you, and you’re making space for new ways of being.
Years of conditioning won’t disappear in a few weeks. It takes time for us to integrate our experiences and make sense of our feelings. What matters is, you’re not who you were a year ago — and that’s a good thing.
I know you feel like your life would be way easier if you had never started to question everything — but would it be happier? No. You’d just be another human being sleepwalking through life with no awareness of your real purpose.
You’re here for a reason. You know you’re meant for more.
It’s okay if you’re not ready to take action yet.
You just need to gather your strengths first, and take one step at a time.
The final stage of your transformation is coming.
