WRITING

This Is Why I Write!

What about you?

Thank you Warren Brown for January’s Writing Prompt Contest: “I Write because…..” and for asking us the following:

What is your reason for writing and do you remember the first time that you picked up a pen or typed the first line? Were you just inspired to write or did something happen in your life that made you want to express yourself in your writings? — Warren Brown

My reason why

I started writing recently, just a few months ago. Sure, as a teenager or young adult, I wrote poems for school or poetic letters to my friends, but no real writing.

My favorite person inspired me to write.

Shortly after we met, he showed me Medium. We sent each other interesting articles and discussed them.

In the beginning, mostly about narcissistic abuse, because we both experienced that for many, many years. It felt good to be understood by him and others.

He and I had experienced similar things and also different things — anyway, we shared a lot. I became a member to read all articles.

We got closer by talking about our traumas and understood each other so well. We became closer than I ever was with anyone else in my life.

That’s when I realized that I also want to share my thoughts, that I want to write about my experiences, organize my thoughts, leave everything behind, and inspire others by giving them a voice and an ear.

How I started

I wrote down my experience with narcissistic abuse for the first time. I also told someone about the abuse for the first time. It felt good to get it all off my chest, so freeing.

The more I wrote, the more I came up with. Situations and experiences that I had forgotten or repressed. I have found closure with my past and look into a great future.

Writing gives me so much joy and inspires me to think about topics that occupy and interest me. I have many interests and like to keep evolving.

So I also started to write about business topics that interest me, and also poetry. Language is something wonderful. I’m looking forward to experimenting with it a lot more.

One of my biggest hobbies is reading. The more I read and learn, the more I feel like writing.

My Progress

I wrote 60 stories in about 2,5 months, and I want to write so many more. I love the active Medium community and all your stories!

When I have some free time and feel like it, I start writing.
