MEDIUM

This is How You Can Immediately Increase Your Earnings

You just have to stop writing. You heard me — stop writing.

Are you serious now? (Photo by Monstera: https://www.pexels.com/photo/woman-using-phone-9480286/)

May was a really tough month for me. Stats have gone down and it’s almost continued for the entire month. I tried to change up my strategy and tried everything I could to improve my numbers.

I struggled right until the end of the month. I’ve even written a story on my experience.

Then I decided to do one thing to see if it made a difference.

I increased my engagement on the platform.

Yes, it’s that simple. My publishing schedule has always been one to three stories per day. Therefore, my consistency has stayed the same.

The only thing I did differently to increase my engagement. Just like magic, my stats increased as soon as I did this! I couldn’t believe it!

Here’s exactly what I did.

Yay! Things are looking up again! (Photo by Mikael Blomkvist: https://www.pexels.com/photo/person-holding-white-ipad-on-brown-wooden-table-6476589/)

I started by reading more on Medium. I chose stories that were interesting to me, like travel and life. For each story I read, I gave 50 claps. (By the way, I’ve written a story on why I always give 50 claps.)

In addition to reading the entire story, I also highlighted inspiring sentences.

After reading the story, I also always leave a meaningful comment. I also reply to all comments that other writers leave on my stories.

Check out how my stats went up towards the end of May. You’ll see a spike in the last few days of May. That’s when I started to increase my engagement on Medium.

I can’t even explain how important it is to engage with your fellow writers.

Medium is a very social community and engagement is highly encouraged.

Certainly, it’s a great idea to churn out riveting and fresh content for your readers. Let me tell you that it isn’t enough to toss out your stories every day to your audience.

You must engage with them! It’s not a follow-for-follow method at all.

Instead, you’re building rapport and trust. By engaging with your fellow writers and followers, you’re slowly fostering the beginnings of a budding relationship. This is how you succeed on the platform.

It’s no use having 5K followers if no one really knows you or wants to read your work. It’s a mere numbers game at that point.

What you need are genuine friends who love you and your writing!

Friends who are interested in what you have to say will read your story from beginning to end. This is how you sustain yourself and keep your audience coming back for more.

Takeaway

To move ahead on Medium, increase your engagement by doing the following things as often as possible:

  • Read more stories from other writers
  • Leave claps
  • Leave meaningful comments
  • Highlight sentences or phrases that resonated with you
  • Reply to all of your comments

Start engaging today, there’s no time to waste! It’s easy and you’ll be amazed at the difference in your stats. 🥳

Oh no! Did you hit that darn 3 story limit again? Get rid of it once and for all by joining Medium. It only costs $5 per month. Since joining and reading more on Medium, I’ve also been earning more money each month. Engagement is important and you can’t do that effectively by reading only 3 stories a month.
