This Beautiful Socialite Was Actually A Sick Slave-Killer
Madame Lalaurie was a mad mistress who killed slaves for fun.

Madame Delphine Lalaurie, born in New Orleans, Spanish Louisiana, on 19th March 1787, was a prominent member of the New Orleans White Creole community. She was recognized as a native of France.
Madame Lalaurie was born into a wealthy family that owned many enslaved people. She got married thrice to different men with five children in total.
Taking the last name of her final husband Leonard Lalauri, who served as a doctor, Delphine is infamously known as Madame Lalaurie.
Madame Lalaurie lived in a three-story mansion with her slaves at 1140 Royal street in French Quarters that she purchased herself.
Being well off, the Lalaurie constantly threw luxurious parties. The Lalaurie were well-respected members of the society, but little did the people know what happened behind the closed doors.
Rumours about Madame Lalaurie’s evil began to spread, and people noticed that many of her slaves disappeared over time.
Things changed after the incident of Lia, an eight years old slave of Madame Lalaurie. Lia was seen falling off the roof of Lalaurie’s while she was trying to get away from Madame Lalaurie.
Madame Lalaurie’s evil was pretty much unknown until 10th April 1834 — when a fire broke out at Lalaurie’s residence.
Starting from the kitchen, the firefighters and the police barged in only to find an elderly lady chained to the cooker. Furthermore, she told the police that she had started the fire to commit suicide.
Upon further questions, the lady told the police that Madame Lalaurie threatened to take her to the top room.
According to the cook, whoever went to the room never returned. On that note, the police decided to look at this room. And undoubtedly, the room was a hell on earth for the enslaved people in it.
Intestines Wrapped Around The Body
Madame Lalaurie was a brutal killer who did things never heard of in the history of humanity.
One of the most sadistic forms is when Lalaurie allegedly chained up her slave cut the stomachs open and wrapped the intestines around their waists.
Madame Lalaurie would leave the body hanging in the same state to rot, and this would take place in front of the other enslaved people in the top room.
Mouth Sewed Shut With Animal Waste
Madame Lalaurie had her way of thinking, and the way we see it is almost all of them were savage.
She would stuff the mouth of her slave with animal waste and sew it shut — one of the most horrifying forms of torture.
People who went into the attic and witnessed the scene claimed Madame Lalaurie had an accomplice. As there seemed no possibility of the crime being done all alone — single-handedly.
Men Had To Suffer More
Some of the people studied the case of Madame Lalaurie further. They claimed that there is a fair amount of evidence to believe that Madame Lalaurie subjected her male slaves to a higher degree of torture when compared to females.
People removing the bodies from Madame Lalaurie’s torture chamber or attic noted that most enslaved men didn’t have eyes, fingernails or even genitals. It was apparent to them that these parts had been removed by force.
Bones Were Broken To Be Reassembled
When Madame Lalaurie’s attic was opened, it exposed Lalaurie’s actual image, and the authorities were shocked to see what had been going on in their neighbourhood.
The authorities discovered enslaved people with missing limbs and broken bones. Bones were broken so that no part of the body could be restored.
They found a woman whose bones had been broken and reassembled to resemble a crab and another whose bones were broken to fit in a small metal cage, a cage meant to be used for dogs.
Most of the enslaved people found in the attic were alive, or maybe they were kept alive by Madame Lalaurie to suffer.
Disturbing Science, And Human Caterpillar
The fire caused by the cook to commit suicide was a blessing for the other enslaved people in the mansion.
One of the most disturbing human experiments committed by Madame Lalaurie was found when the people went into the attic.
They found a woman with her arms severed and her skin peeled off so that it imitated a caterpillar.
Stirring Brains
One of the most sickening moments inside the attic was when people discovered enslaved people with holes drilled into their skulls.
Some enslaved people were found alive with drilled skulls and maggot infestation in their heads.
Furthermore, a woman was discovered with a big hole in her skull with a stick inside it, pointing towards a use of rod to for stirring things about.
Why She Did What She Did?

Nothing was exciting about her childhood, as she witnessed horrors. When she was four, the Haitian Revolution emerged in 1791. During this revolution, her uncle was murdered by his slaves.
The revolution did cause the enslavers to be more barbarous in hopes of putting a stop to further uprisings.
We can postulate that witnessing the Haitian Revolution and the murder of her uncle by the enslaved people changed something in her that made her do all this evil. Either way, it is tough to comprehend the reasons behind her inhumanity.
Final Words
Madame Lalaurie was never brought to justice. After the dust settled, she and her driver were nowhere found.
She fled to Paris, where she lived for the rest of her life until her death in 7th December 1849.
The house still exists and is believed to be haunted by the spirits of the enslaved people who were tortured and brutally killed inside.
