Lieske's YouTube channel, with 10,000 followers, provides her with a steady income despite not having released a new book in a year. Has there ever been a more exciting time to be an author? I would argue… no way!

The barriers are all coming down. Self-published writers are bringing in six and seven-figure incomes. They are hitting the New York Times and Wall Street Journal Bestseller Lists.

And it’s only getting more and more exciting out there.

By the way, I do include affiliate links below! That just means that if you purchase any of these, I will get a small portion. Thanks!

Now, you can make money publishing your audiobooks directly to YouTube.

As I have mentioned in previous posts, I’m a big fan of The Writing Gals.

One of them, Victorine Lieske, has been chronicling her audiobook journey in the Writing Gals’ Facebook group and she recently revealed that she made $17,000 from her audiobooks on YouTube.

Isn’t that crazy? Who knew that people would listen to audiobooks on YouTube?

So, what are the benefits of putting your audiobook on YouTube apart from the money?

Well, as Victorine explains, this is consistent money.

With book publishing, you are dealing with spikes and dips in income. When you publish a book, you get a spike. The further out you are from a book launch, the more your income levels out.

Victorine has a steady 10,000 followers on her YouTube account and it provides a stable, predictable income for her. That’s amazing!

And the craziest part? Victorine hasn’t published a new book in a year.

And this is not only bringing in money through YouTube, but it is also helping her sell books.

The only caveat here is that Victorine writes clean romance.

For authors with steamier content who want to try publishing their audiobooks on YouTube, you’ll need to edit out those scenes as YouTube has certain restrictions.

In the comments section of Victorine’s post, one user suggested offering these redacted scenes on Patreon.

Want to learn how to do this for yourself?

This is just one of many creative ways that you can make money as an author.

If you want to try your hand at this method, Victorine is teaching a whole class on this at The Writing Gals’ upcoming conference. It is a completely virtual conference and they do offer payment plans which are really nice.

I think this is a really cool way to add an extra layer of income to your writing and get discovered on a brand new platform and learning it from someone with proven success is a great way to do it.

Plus, there are tons of other incredible classes that you’ll be able to take from The Writing Gals that will help you become a better writer and book marketer.

So, what do you think? Would you put your audiobooks on YouTube?
