Thinking About Giving Up Writing?
You can't

Everybody can write, but not everybody is called to write. As a child, I wanted to be a doctor because no kid ever wanted to be a writer. Writing is a divine calling that tugs at your soul when it knows you are ready. You know you are meant to be a writer when the call gets louder and louder. And when the time comes for you to serve, you can no longer ignore it.
Here are 9 signs you are meant to be a writer even if you don't know it yet.
1. You are passionate about writing
You write every chance you get. You've written plenty of articles for free because you are passionate about it and don't consider it work at all. You write because it is your calling to help others through the things you have to say and the experiences you have to share.
You write because it brings you pure joy knowing that your work will help someone out there. If you are not writing, you are thinking about writing. You love all the other parts of writing — researching, editing, and revising.
2. You'd rather write it than say it
Not all writers are introverts, but most of us are and would rather write it than say it. You know you are meant to be a writer when you communicate better through writing. You are able to choose your words carefully when you write. Text messages are much easier than phone calls and when you write your thoughts, you have time to think about what you are going to say.
Your emails are often long with perfect grammar and punctuation and two-word responses from people drive you nuts. You have lots of notes in the notes app on your phone and you are grateful for that app on nights when you randomly wake up with a mind full of creative ideas.
3. You worry you will forget
When an idea pops in your head, you have to write it down or you will forget. There’s been plenty of times you failed to write brilliant ideas down thinking you would remember and ended up forgetting them. Never again. You always have a note pad close by.
You sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with ideas running through your mind and you jump out of bed looking for a pen and paper. Thank goodness for the notes app.
4. You journal consistently
You love journals. You have so many of them. You have one for each year. You look forward to the last page of your journal because you know that means opening a fresh one. You know how important it is to write ideas down as soon as they come.

5. You read everything
Every writer enjoys reading and most writers begin as readers. Writing and reading go hand in hand. There is not one without the other. Reading is where you get your creative ideas. You love libraries. You go into a bookstore while others go into a shoe store. You read everything from the ingredient list on your favorite chocolate bar to the flyer that most people will just toss out.
6. You think a lot
And you've probably been through things in your life, but your pain becomes words on a page. You overthink everything and it sometimes feels like a curse. You need to think before you can write. Your thoughts and emotions push you to get up and write. You sometimes suffer from writer's block and after a few days of not writing, you become irritated and frustrated and once you get back to writing you feel lighter.
7. You talk to yourself
Not in a crazy way. No. You read the email out loud before pressing send. You read your article out loud just to see how it sounds before hitting publish. You rehearse conversations with yourself before it actually happens. Talking to yourself is not crazy. All the smart ones do and writers are among the smart ones.
8. You've felt weird at some point in your life
Writers are different in so many ways. While everyone is in the front of the class chatting it up, you are in the corner scribbling something in the corner of your notebook. You don't mind being alone because it means you can focus on getting your ideas down in peace with no distractions.
You come across as anti-social because of this. You’ve always felt misunderstood, so you retreat and you write down the things you can't say out loud.
9. You need solitude
You love solitude. You crave it. You are sensitive, empathetic, and emotional. After a long day surrounded by people, you need silence and solitude to recharge your batteries. You think straight when you are alone and you are not afraid of it. Being alone means you get more work done and after some time alone, you are rejuvenated and filled with lots of creative ideas that turn into books and blog articles.
You Are Meant to be a Writer
If you are still reading this article, you are meant to be a writer. Writing is fun and although anybody can do it, not everybody is called to do it. If you can resonate with this article, then you are definitely here to be a writer because you have something important to share with the world.
So no more putting it off. Heed to the call now and start serving your purpose. Do not let your doubts and fears tell you any different.
