There's No Excuse Ever To Be Unkind When Correcting Others

If that's your pattern, it's time to take a long hard look at yourself.

It's not what you say — it's how you say it.

I'm one to sound my own trumpet. I am not perfect and never claim to be.

I have made many mistakes and continue to make them. But, that's a part of learning and growing.

Unkind comments do not easily ruffle me.

But today, I felt driven to write about this experience to send a message to all the unkind perfectionists, including the ones on Medium.

Why?

There is correction, and there is reprimanding. But, I'm a grown-ass woman, and so I refused to be condemned by anyone.

I am always appreciative of corrections or someone pointing out a mistake I've made. But do it kindly, for God's sake.

I got an email notification private note from Terry L Cooper this morning.

I couldn't tag her; read on, you'll see why.

I intended to reply with a kind thank you of appreciation.

But before I could respond to her message, she deleted it.

I then visited her profile to leave a kind reply.

Then this.

I sense something brewing. This person is about to get me.

Thank you, Ms. Terry; you may be perfect. Thank God I'm not.

Every day, I look at myself and embrace my imperfections.

My imperfections are what made me into the woman I am today. They've taught me there is always room for improvement — to learn and grow.

I credit my mistakes to my success in life every day.

Today, I want to remind you; It's not what you say — how you say it makes the difference.

Make someone's day today by being kind in your words and actions.

Shout out to all the writers out there who are striving to become better writers. Don't be intimidated by people who try to discourage you from writing.
