Summary

The "Weather Watcher" article discusses recent weather patterns, including the lack of snow in the Northeast, severe rain and flooding in California, a rare January tornado outbreak in the Southern states, and provides weather forecasts for the upcoming week.

Abstract

The latest edition of "Weather Watcher" from Weather Watchers Central addresses the ongoing weather conditions across the United States. Despite colder temperatures, the Northeast has seen minimal snowfall since Christmas, with more rain than snow. California has been experiencing relentless storms, leading to significant flooding and damage. A unusual January tornado outbreak has struck the Southern states, causing loss of life and widespread destruction, which is attributed to climate change. The article also shares the national weather outlook for the week, including a forecast for heavy snow in the Northeast and New England, and invites readers to contribute as writers to the publication.

The Weather Watcher-Will We Finally Get Some Snow This Week?

Welcome back to Weather Watchers Central. I hope you are enjoying my articles regarding all things weather. I am just getting started with my new publication and of course, I would love some writers to come on board. If you are interested, take a look at the Submission Guidelines, send me an email, and I will add you as a writer.

Even though we have returned to colder temperatures, we have received only a trace of snow since around Christmas. The temperatures have been up and down and for the most part above normal. Thus overall, more rain than snow.

California Continues to Get Soaked But Relief Is In Sight

Unfortunately, little has changed with this situation since my last story. There has been a steady stream of storms (10 storms since Christmas) over the last few weeks bringing huge amounts of rain and mountain snow; this has caused devastating flooding, landslides, etc. Flood watches and warnings galore. Roads and homes destroyed by mud and debris. Thankfully, today’s storm is supposed to be the last for a while. Let’s hope that is true.

Southern States Suffer Rare January Tornado Outbreak

Last week, an outbreak of tornadoes (at least 35 confirmed) hit Kentucky, Alabama, Mississipi, and Georgia. Unfortunately, lives were lost and widespread devestation occured. This is rare for January and screams climate change. The warmer temperatures are fueling storms that occur more often and tend to be stronger.

Next is the forecast for the Northeast and New England from The Farmers’ Almanc , another favorite source of mine:

January 16th to 19th: Heavy snow (6 inches plus), lighter amounts farther South. Turning much colder.

To be honest The Farmers’ Almanac isn’t always accurate, but more often than you might think it is. Of course the other many sources of weather forecasting availalble aren’t always accurate either as we all know!
