The Weather Watcher-Massive Winter Storm Sweeps Across the Country/Record Warmth in the South
Volume 5 -This Wild Winter of Extremes Continues

The Rollercoaster Winter
As you all know, this Winter has been anything but normal, no matter where you live. Here in Central New York, most of the Winter has featured above-normal temperatures. We have had snow cover a few different times, but then it melted away when the warmer temperatures return. For those of you who follow my writing, you know that I have been able to do a fair amount of cross-country skiing during the snowy periods. Here’s to hoping that I will be able to do some more before Spring comes.
National Weather Outlook
As I mentioned above, there is a big winter storm crossing the country as I write this. It is bringing up to 2 feet of snow to some areas with blizzard conditions. Some areas in the midwest will see dangerous icing conditions. Here in Central NY, we are expecting about 3 inches of snow with sleet and freezing rain also mixed in. Thus far (10 PM on 2/22/23), we have received about 2 inches of snow and the sleet is now pinging against our family room bow window. It is supposed to gradually warm up overnight so hopefully, not too much ice will accumulate on the trees.

Meanwhile, down South, record warmth is forecasted. For example, tomorrow it will be 82 degrees in Williamsburg, VA, obviously above normal. Down in Florida, it will also be in the 80s, which is also above normal for February.
It seems like the country is currently experiencing opposite extremes of weather. Is this the new normal? Hello, climate change!

February 20th to 23rd: Unseasonably warm, many 50s, 60s.
