The “War” of Love

Limericks

a battle that launched some days ago exploded but I did not know a sweet war of words may have spiral downwards but hoping this battle stays inflow.

I’m jumping back into this battle to fight the war that caused the rattle Burg’s call to action gained lots of traction but love, not war, we shall tackle.

I had no idea that the Limerick “war” had taken such a turn. Michael Burg, MD (AKA Medium Michael Burg) has changed the tides and is now spreading some love. I am onboard the Limerick-al love wave, I’d rather love than fight. So, if you would like to join this love fest, here are your instructions:

Whatever “love” means to you, a limerick about it. Publish it in a pub you love and let’s get this limerick love-in lumbering along.

I realized I failed to follow Michael’s prompt, so here is my attempt at the Limerick “Love” Challenge:

they say all is fair in love and war my heart has too many scars bruised in this love game I won’t play it the same I’d rather party like a rockstar.

This one came out of nowhere. I feel the total opposite of what I wrote. I believe in love and the beauty it brings, but I couldn’t think of a way to make that into a funny or witty Limerick. But that is the beauty of writing poetry, there are no rules. All is fair in love and war.

If you dare to tackle this “love” battle, below I included some of Michael Burg, MD (AKA Medium Michael Burg)’s Limericks. He was kind enough to mention Limericks from other writers/poets, so happy reading y’all, let’s spread some love and not war in a battle to the end.

This began the 2021 Limerick battle:

It became a raging frenzy:

Then, concluded with making “love” because love conquers all:

Oh, and as a bonus, I included my favorite piece from this war. Time after time, William J Spirdione has proven his poetic skills. Thus, I consider him the true rockstar. Thank you for accepting the prompt, William. I thoroughly enjoyed your Limericks.

I would like to tag: William J Spirdione | Terry Mansfield | Terry L. Cooper | Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) | James G Brennan | Tony Young, Jr.| Megan Nicole Morgan | Carolyn Hastings | Sahil Patel | A Rustic Mind (Manali Desai) | R. Rangan PhD | Dr Fatima Imam | Marcus | Kyomi O'Connor | David Rudder | Claire Kelly or anyone else who would like to participate. My apologies if you have been double tagged, it means you have to write at least 2 Limericks, lol.

Thank you for reading and thank you to all the editors of ILLUMINATION.
