The Ultimate Answer: Should You Buy M1 MacBook Air Or Pro?

My Answer Is Straight To The Point

Hi, it is me again sharing my thoughts on the M1 Macbooks. Before I continue, I want to thank everyone who read my other article on if you should still consider an M1 MacBook after you’ve probably read the stories of new M1s getting bricked. It means a lot to me.

In the article, I want to answer whether you should get the M1 Air or Pro. They are almost the same laptop with the M1 Pro slightly better.

For everyone else, the base model is good enough. There are a lot of YouTube videos explaining what M1 MacBook is best for your needs.

Initially, the M1 Air was what I was going to buy. After spending a lot of time researching and thinking, I have decided to go for the M1 MacBook Pro 16GB RAM with 512GB storage.

The reason is I want to play it safe; future-proof, if you may.

Say, I went for the M1 Air base model. In the next 3–4 years, Apple might release updates that take a lot of space or need more processing power.

The M1 MacBook might slow down, and I hate slow computers.

I don’t have the privilege to get every MacBook that Apple releases every year. Whatever one I will get soon will be my daily driver for the next 6–7 years.

It begs the other question: why don’t I go for the M1 Air 16GB with 512GB SSD, since it is more affordable.

Now, this boils down to preference. I’d rather go for the brighter screen, the noise cancellation microphone, the 8-core GPU (if I ever decide to go into graphic intensive stuff), and the fan (it can get really hot here). And, of course, the longer battery life the M1 Pro comes with.

What M1 MacBook should you get? Anyone you can afford, really. If you’re thinking about the future, the M1 MacBook with higher specs may be the better option.
