The Tree of Life
A love poem about immortality

Ancient Sages have called it many names Tree of Life, Yggdrasil, Philosopher’s Stone Ambrosia, Amrita, Androgynous Child many others, recalled or reduced to flames
Most looked without though, not within many looked into places far and wide neglected to look right in front of them hence they all failed, they could not win
The ‘Eve’ of The Fountain sent ‘Adam’ on a quest a quest to bring a fruit from the Tree of Life “and when you return I shall be your Eve” seek a symbolic fruit north, south, east and west
Unaware they were each other’s ‘fruit’ all along my friends, the Tree of Life resides within us all yet we all have one half of its legendary fruit fear and doubt have prevented us to be strong
Mate our two halves with Love and transcend become each other’s Lif and Lifthrasir and thrive dream the ostensibly impossible into existence end death and pain, once and for all, with a friend
Therefore there is no need to look without The Tree of Life of a thousand names is within however its fruit requires boldness to be shared a leap of faith must be taken, there’s no doubt
Dionysian and other Earthly delights can function as an anchor to the past we require them while we are alone but not when the Stars are on our sights
Their power to keep us grounded is so strong perhaps they prepare us for the real thing maybe they educate us, to anticipate bliss but if we linger on them our pain we prolong
Robert Frost once said that poems never end poems, he said, are always abandoned so it’s time for me to abandon this poem no longer seeking a lover, just needing a friend
Inspired by this movie of Darren Aronofsky:
