The rain started as Billy took a walk

Random Word Drabble Challenge Day 56 Word Is Leaden.

The clouds were leaden when Billy slammed down the bat, walking to first while eyeballing the pitcher. He wanted to hit.

It was 2–2 in the bottom of the ninth with two outs.

The coach was a rookie who put the pitcher behind him, so they walked him every time.

When he stepped on first, the pitcher went into his windup, and Billy took off — the catcher threw the ball into center field, and Billy slid into third.

Thunder rumbled across the sky as the pitcher went into his windup — before the lightning struck, Billy was sliding across home plate!

A drabble is exactly 100 words, no more, no less. In this case, the random word to build the story around is “leaden.”
