Lifeline Poetry Challenge Prompt 22
The stars in your eyes
a message to my teenage self
Your eyes say a lot
still they don’t say much
if not heard!
Your eyes smile a lot
still look wistful
if not noticed!
Your eyes look at
what only you can be,
Your eyes hold dreams
no one can see,
only your can realise.
There are stars in them
or storms
lets find out.
In response to Sahil Patel’s 22nd prompt:
If you could time travel, what would you tell your teenage self?
This is a breathless me, speaking to my teenage self, in awe of what she has to go through, and what she would manage, it is very easy for me to say whatever advice, assurance I can give, but, it is her life, it is for her to find out!
Thanks Sahil Patel for this opportunity to explore these territories, I hadn’t ventured in!
There is so much to say, but actually not much, as I wouldn’t want my teenage self to be held by a foreboding, or an anticipation, from the future, just live, and find out what life is all about.
But yes, I would want to live it all with ‘her’ be her.
What do you think dear Hamsalekha, and Sahil Patel, Kishly, Sujona Chatterjee! The younger poets and writers that I know, who are much closer to teenage years!
I loved how Giulietta Passarelli told her teenage self “I wish I could go back to be your friend.
