Slowing down, time, mindful
The Speeding up of Slowing Down
It might look like you’re backing away, in fact, you can get there faster

In the modern world today, we seem required to be busy and hectic all the time, doing multiple tasks at the same time, tell to be productive and feel the need to do more every time just to keep up as if we didn’t then we were wasting time and we would be left behind. In fact, faster does not equal better and busier does not equal more productive. Because of all this, right now many posts appear to reassure you to live slowly. But do you know what it means exactly? It doesn’t mean you should literally do tasks slower but it means how to bring awareness to every energy you spend for. You should know the differences between the speed of the clock and the speed of the times. They absolutely have different meanings. The speed of the clock is steady meanwhile the speed of the time is more to how our perception of it. That’s why the same duration can feel longer or shorter depending on what you’re doing.
When we trying to be busy all the time, some of us may feel we need an extra 24 hours a day because there are a lot of things to do. Actually, this is what makes us burn out and overwhelmed faster. Live slow down help to take care of this kind of thing and some point below are going to become the reason why you can go faster by doing slowly:
1. More present and mindful
Being mindful will bring you life in the present. So, you will less regret about the past and be less anxious about the future.
2. You get a more enjoyable life
Even if you need to focus to enjoy your meal, the same rules apply to our lives that are really bigger than that.
3. Simple and Clarity
The more simple your life is, the more clarity you can see so, you potentially take a greater decision and your progress is more meaningful.
Just because a lot of things happen only in a second, doesn't mean all of those are important to you. We might look relaxed even though our brains are hectic whether it’s because of phone notifications, the ads we see, or the news interlude on the podcast we’re listening to. There is a feeling of fear of missing out if we do not keep up with what is happening. But some of the following methods hopefully can help you get started.
The Escape Way
Sometimes, seeing things from afar help you to see the whole instead of just looking at the pieces closely. Though looking closely needs to be done as well to give more attention to detail in order to improve each component better. When doing work and completing daily routines is usually a moment where we look closely but, we often forget to take our distance to look at the whole because we’re tired of energizing the details. So, get away from the screen is things that include your to-do list at least once a week. You can go for walk, take some time to meditate, savor a cup of tea, and deep talk with someone you adore so that you keep in mind again your “why” for everything you are going to be done every day.
Do Less
When I watched a cooking demo competition in my country, there was one concept that I liked, namely “Less is more”. I see the judges are more appreciative when the contestants make a simple dish but produce a complex taste when eaten compared to making lots of dishes that are forced to get along together. Also, fewer mistakes for a simple dish are always better than a complex dish with a lot of mistakes. I tried to bring this concept into my daily life, including when I write. Even though the topics I bring up are quite overrated but I always want to see them from a different perspective so that readers will feel the difference in tastes every time they read my writing. Definitely, I also learned to carry this concept to other things I do. Here’s my way to support this concept
1. Doing a single task
However, doing a single task helps me put more focus on that so I can do even my simple tasks much better.
2. Make to no do list
Instead, make a to-do list I just try to determine one priority goal every day and pending or delete the rest. In addition, making a to-do not list help me to keep on track while actually I’m quite easily distracted. So, the to-do not list is a collection of less important distractions that often make me procrastinate on important things
3. Doing an intentional pause
Taking some time off to break is different with press a pause button intentionally. I often take a break when doing work because I’m tired, but an intentional pause is to stop consciously to reflect on what we have done and what needs to be improved. Right now, at least I do an intentional pause at the beginning of every month so I can see more clearly what I should continue and what I shouldn’t.
Learn to Detach
For me, disconnecting from people is important as disconnecting from devices. Too many things we already put too much emotion into until we forgot to connect with ourselves. Too much information appears every second that makes me enjoy transforming the FOMO to JOMO. I don’t have to know all the information and knowing all of it doesn’t make my life any better. I also turn notifications off permanently for several applications that I think popping the notification isn’t important enough.
Reset
If the phone only has a button to reset how can our more complicated life not need it? There are times when we have to turn around, there are struggles that must be stopped. There are times when we have to admit it doesn’t work so we have to find another way. It’s not just technology that is constantly being updated, but our way of life too. Holding the old method too long might make us fall and get hurt.
Final Thought
The world is going to change every time but it doesn’t mean we should keep up every single thing. In my opinion, technology exists to make our life easier not to rush us or even compete with our present. They are present as our facilities, not even making us their slaves.
