This is the first prompt of the year 2023. The year is starting with a wonderful collaboration post with Monoreena Acharjee Majumdar. We have had two collab posts on Nature.

My thanks to William J Spirdione and Dr. Fatima Imam

Monoreena brings in the new year with a bang. Let me introduce this wonderful personality.

Before we go on let me share that her collab post is on her birthday. Wishing you a very

Happy birthday dear Monoreena. May you start the year with love, happiness, and good health ❤️❤️

I along with all the readers wish you sincerely from our hearts.

To introduce Monoreena Acharjee Majumdar. Where do I start? She is an artist with her words, photographs, and her paintings.

I first got attracted to her beautiful paintings. They were amazing. I just adored them.

Monoreena writes beautiful poetry and when she writes a post it is poetic and very deep. At times I can underline every word. She writes from her heart.

You can see how she has described the sea. She calls it peace of the sea. In her words, Monoreena has selected the prompt. Please read her words

Serene of the Sea

“To me, the sea is a continual miracle; The fishes that swim–the rocks–the motion of the waves–the ships, with men in them, What stranger miracles are there?” — Walt Whitman

Have you ever felt small, standing under the vast expanse of sky, sea waves kissing your feet?!

That’s the impact, the never-ending pool of ripples and waves have on me , as I stand on the sand, wetting my feet bare.

Though sea sides can get quite noisy and busy during tourist season, an empty beach embracing silence can be a salve to your soul, reaching out with its elements that compose us — salt and water.

You envision a serene sea and its depth, and learn how deep cores are always unshaken.

You are mesmerised by the mystery of what lies under those turquoise blue waters, and life beneath

the calm surface.

A wilderness of water, sea cleanse our mind by its innate rhythm and harmonious noise.

I concur with Natalie Wood when she says “At night, when the sky is full of stars and the sea is still, you get the wonderful sensation that you are floating in space.”

I have sat on lone beaches on full moon nights, the roaring waves lashing on my being, emptying me from within, making me feel light and rejuvenated, the weight of life sucked out by the saline breeze blowing over the energetic white froths.

The prompt for the first week of January is

The Serene Sea.

How do you feel when you encounter a sea?

Share with us your emotions, experience, anecdotes and also a bit of science and facts, if you are so inclined, for our prompt for the week.

This week’s posts on Are You Proud of your roots had interesting perspectives.

Let me begin with Monoreena Acharjee Majumdar's post as she is our guest for the week

Monoreena Acharjee Majumdar

Monoreena’s post felt as though she had put each word very carefully and it was positioned to be there. Her paintings are outstanding. The depth of her article touched me. She dials her heart and it sings in roots.

I agree with her that roots have underground channels of massaging and they provide nourishment to others often not thinking of themselves.💜💜

Sahil Patel

Sahil feels that Roots teach you to become strong and combat your difficult challenges and become stronger. it helps you to overcome any challenge and stay firmly in one place. The roots enable a tree to survive even the fiercest winds without being uprooted.

William J Spirdione

Roots are strong and withstand snow blizzards also. Some give way as they cannot withstand the cold and the frost. The roots keep on growing stronger and deeper to protect the trees. We also have roots. We are here because of our ancestors.

Hermione Wilds Writes

Hermione shares beautiful words. we all came from one root, and we are merely branches of the same tree that will soar if we are given light, love, and nourishment. I think it was amazing.

Josephine Crispin

I love these words of Josephine and the way she expresses her feelings about roots. She says people should be proud of their roots and should never be offended when they are asked about their background.

“Those are the roots that have fed my spirit; the roots that have nourished me into the person I am now. Being asked about our roots is not an offensive question”.

Joyce Nielsen

I love Joyce’s adventurous spirit and love of nature. She does things that I wonder I can ever do even though I try to put in my best. She is hardy and has a great background in climbing and living near the hills.

I want to quote her ancestral background -During a visit to the Black Forest region, she felt“Were my ancestors avid hikers in the surrounding mountains? It is a beautiful area of Germany. I felt a kinship with the energy of the quaint towns. Did my hiking and climbing inclination come from their genes?”

Dr. Fatima Imam

Another beautiful post on roots and lineage that Fatima traces to her Indian background and upbringing. She feels that roots definitely impact overall development and provide a foundation for intellectual growth.

I am so glad that you are proud of your roots

Shubha Apte

Shubha visited the botanical gardens in Kolkotta and the Banyan tree and the Ficus show her the interconnectedness of the roots to our system. Roots give us many life lessons. They take us to our roots that explain our identity, self-worth lineage, values, and beliefs.

B.R. Shenoy

Walking in nature, in short, is a simple yet profound way to improve our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. It allows us to disconnect from the stresses of everyday life, connect with nature, and appreciate the beauty and significance of our surroundings. Who can tell us better than BR Shenoy
