Summary

Lucy, known as The Eggcademic, has created a poetic sequel inspired by Holly's October Writing Challenge, which includes themes such as horror, apples, candy, orange, leaves, movies, and sweaters, and is reminiscent of "Alice in Wonderland."

Abstract

The undefined website features a series of poems and images by Lucy, also known as The Eggcademic, which serve as a continuation of her previous work, "Familiar Dreams." This collection is a response to Holly's October Writing Challenge, with each piece corresponding to daily prompts. The poems are accompanied by captivating photographs and are structured as a narrative that follows a character through a series of surreal and whimsical experiences, drawing parallels to Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland." Lucy acknowledges the spontaneous nature of her storytelling, which has led to an unintentional but recognized resemblance to the classic tale. She encourages others to explore the prompts and contemplate their own "rabbit holes," while also promoting her previous works and other poets' voices.

The Sequel

A sequel to a cliffhanger (haiku)

Before you read this, hop on to part 1:

Horror (Oct 2)

She approached the door, not knowing about her fate… would be sealed tonight.

Apples (Oct 3)

Behind the doors, were a large basket of apples, a fruit knife, a lamp.

Candy (Oct 4)

Photo by Bill Nino on Unsplash

The smell of candy — cotton candy — wafted through, the strangest combo.

Orange (Oct 5)

Then, suddenly: “crack!” a blur of orange fur ran quickly by her side…

Leaves (Oct 6)

…with momentum to leap head first into a pile of crisp autumn leaves.

Movies (Oct 7)

She followed, fell through, like a movie, arms flailing, her own rabbit hole.

Sweaters (Oct 8)

With a thud, she stopped, landing softened by sweaters, confused, dazed and lost.

I’m tackling Holly’s October poetry and art prompt challenge! She’s an amazing poet who sells typewritten poems for $5 and posts beautiful wax seal photos. Hop on her challenge & feel free to submit your piece to The Brain is a Noodle! 🧠🍜

Tagging: Pierre Trudel | Maryjo Bautista | Hope Coalesce | Spyder | K.S. to try any of the prompts mentioned today: Horror, Apples, Candy, Orange, Leaves, Movies, Sweaters.

Lucy (The Eggcademic) procrastinated on these prompts so much she decided to just catch them all up at the same time. She’s also crafted this as a sequel to a story she never planned but am somehow continuuing, realizing that a lot of the plot seems similar to Alice in Wonderland. Let’s say it’s an homage for now 🤣 before I sit down once and for all to actually think up a real plot for these pieces!

What’s your next rabbit hole? 🌌🐰
