The Secret of Women’s Minds

What do they really think

I recently came across some fabulous content about women’s perception of the outside world. While I don’t want to stereotype or batch all women into small buckets, the stuff I’ve seen this week gave me a broader perspective on a woman’s point of view. That seems to be universal.

The first was a TED presentation by Soraya Chemaly, the award-winning author of The Power of Women’s Anger. In her TED talk, she discusses how social norms have made it difficult for women to be direct and express emotions in constructive ways.

Her talk helped me to empathize with women in the countless number of situations they encounter where being direct is difficult, if not impossible. Most of the guys I know want simple communication of needs and desires. “Just tell me what you want” is our motto. However, it is not that simple for a woman. Here is her talk

The other work that inspired this article and enhanced my understanding of women was a few chapters shared by Jack Kammer in ILLUMINATION Book Chapters from his book Good Will Towards Men. Jack Kammer, MSW, MBA is a champion of men and boys who face sexism issues. In this book, Jack shares interviews with 22 women who consider themselves feminists. They speak about the balance of power between the sexes.

The first three chapters feature journalist Cathy Young, clinical psychologist Judith Sherven Ph.D. and anthropologist and author Helen Fisher, Ph.D. Hope you enjoy these interviews and continue to follow Jack as he releases more chapters.
