The Road Less Travelled-Hiking to Auger Falls in the Adirondacks of NY
Volume 14-Auger Falls Near Speculator, NY

Welcome back to my outdoor adventure series. Recently, I spent a week in the Adirondack Park in upstate NY with family near Speculator, NY. For those of you who don’t know, the Adirondack Park is a 6 million acre treasure in upstate NY that will leave you awestruck. It has endless hiking trails, lakes, and mountains to explore. Auger Falls is one such spot.
We spent a morning hiking to Auger Falls, which is located between Speculator and Wells, NY. It is a relatively easy hike of about 1.5 miles out and back. It is a great beginner hike although care should be taken near the falls; there are many steep slippery rock outcrops that are dangerous.

Hiking is a great activity that can be done alone or with others. It is great exercise and soothes the mind as well. It is so peaceful in the woods, especially near running water. It can satisfy your longing for adventure and help you to forget your worries.
The hike is fairly level as it follows the Sacandaga River as it flows towards Wells, NY. We did meet a few other hiking parties but for the most part, it was peaceful and quiet, the weather party sunny in the low 70s. The river provides many beautiful views along the trail.

The flow of the river picks up rapidly on the way to Auger Falls, with quite a few other smaller falls. You can’t go wrong on this trail.
