The Reminiscent
After losing a child
The earth swallowed you, and all I could do was watch. You drowned, so did I, in my own incapability.
Once when you came to my doorstep, I saw my horizons dip and I turned away; would you be coming again?
The sun rays are cathartic in a way best left unexplained. The moon exploded in my eyes that blood-flooded night.
And yet, I didn't have a choice; or, did I?
I try to bury the memories of the familiar rhythm as my body longs to sleep.
And all I can muster again is you...
You, who left without complaining. You, who took the sails down even before the storm came in. You, who knew you were not to be.
I whimper into the night often, for that's all I can ever do about you.
The eternal lump in my throat, I might take to my grave...
