The Proust Questionnaire
Answered by Niru
This post is a response to the Proust Challenge started by Tree Langdon, CPA, CGA. It is so much fun- and so revealing! I loved her answers and decided to dive in myself.
The original challenge can be found here:
Here are my responses:
- What is your idea of perfect happiness? Sipping a drink as I read a book… while the kids play by themselves.
2. What is your greatest fear? That my daughters will grow up in a world similar to what we have now… where gender discrimination has NOT been eliminated.
3. What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? That I can’t communicate to people that I am nice by choice. I have been labeled as indecisive, meek, literally called a scaredy-cat (to my face!), a push-over, and more.
4. Which living person do you most admire? Michelle Obama
5. What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Being Modern
6. On what occasion do you lie? Hmm… if we include lying by omission/ context, then when I don’t want to answer any more questions from the kids. Usually around bedtime. Sorry!!
7. Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Whatever!
In writing, it would be ‘just’.
8. What or who is the greatest love of your life? My two kids.
9. When and where were you happiest? I am torn between the birth of my two babies. I’ll go with the birth of my firstborn. She made me a Mom! It changed my life forever. ‘Crying with happiness’ — I understood it then.
10. Which talent would you most like to have? To let things go.
11. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? My chatterbox nature.
12. What do you consider your greatest achievement? My public speaking skills- because it’s an acquired skill of mine. I am proud of myself for coming to the point where I like it and enjoy it.
13. Where would you most like to live? Mumbai.
14. What do you most value in your friends? Timely support.
15. Which historical figure do you most identify with? Sadly none.
I did find a few instances of Michelle Obama’s life resonated with me- like her entry into college, how she described Chicago winters… I think it is difficult for me to identify with historical figures because I am very firmly settled into my own skin and character.
16. Who are your heroes in real life? My parents. And my grandmother.
17. What is your greatest regret? None actually- even with the worst of my decisions- I have no regrets. I was raised to always try my best. It brings a lot of peace knowing that given what I knew/ had; I did my best.
18. What is your motto?
No Regrets!!
