Abstract

"The Proposal" is a heartfelt poem that expresses the author's joy and surprise at receiving a simple yet profound marriage proposal. The poem reflects on the author's childhood dreams of a fairytale proposal and contrasts it with the beauty of the actual, unadorned question posed: "I want to be yours, Will you be mine?" The author cherishes the sincerity of the proposal, acknowledging that while the partner may not fit the traditional "prince charming" archetype, their genuine love and companionship have captivated the author's heart. The poem concludes with the author accepting the proposal and embracing a future together, referencing the partner as a "precious pearl." The Proposal

A Poem

My life was a mixture of words Your proposal made it a beautiful rhyme You came and asked one question I want to be yours Will you be mine

I dreamed of a prince charming Like every other ordinary girl Always wanted it to be special Whenever I thought about the proposal I expected poetry, you put it in one line I want to be yours, Will you be mine

Of all the jewels in the world You are one precious pearl I like it when we are together The way we unfurl You may not be the prince charming But your simplicity has won my heart My love Be my forever Valentine I want to be yours, Will you be mine
