The Problem of Focus
The Trials and Tribulations of Having an ADHD Brain

We’ve all been there. When you write an article or a blog, you notice that it is all over the place and doesn’t have a clear focus. There may have been a deviation from the original theme, and you have instead written an essay.
My life right now is dominated by an inability to focus. Regardless of whether the topic is interesting to me or not. I lose track of time either way. I have been distracted lately by my negative reactions to a certain political debate. When that did happen, I wrote about it. However, not lately.
Nevertheless, I have been editing and deleting my posts on social media (Before hitting the publish button) because I prefer not to be on Facebook, TikTok, or Twitter jail. Sometimes I am distracted by a personal issue. This all stems from having ADHD. Anyone with ADHD will understand what I mean. Going back to work is hard because your brain doesn’t want to shut down and focus on what you need to do.

Get a to-do list or schedule, you might say. However, that doesn’t work for the ADHD brain. I already have a mile-long To-Do list of freelance, job search, and personal stuff on the go at the same time. If you have this condition, you’ll understand what I’m talking about.
Then I remembered something. I have an organized podcast. I do have a list of topics that I want to discuss for the show that are in a rough timeframe. On that same show, I’ve already written down what I’ve already done for two segments. I might consider doing something similar for blogging, job search, influencer work, and Social Media Management Strategies, Vision, and Mission Statements. That’s still a lot to do. But I’m sure something will come of this.

You might also ask, why don’t you tidy up your room. At my last job, my desk was just as cluttered as the one where I am writing to you now. Could you switch rooms? Although I could, I still may not be able to concentrate on what I should be doing.
But, I do need assistance. Do you have any suggestions? I’d like to hear from you, especially those of you who have ADHD.
Fortunately, this lack of focus allows me to review my work, edit it, and decide that it cannot be published. So, I try again. This is a fantastic alternative for persons with ADHD who are impulsive because we are posting something without thinking about the repercussions. In addition, I am now obsessed with the Google Docs extensions Wordtunes and Quillbot. At least I seem more like a professional writer with them.
Regarding what, I believe, will happen if a future pandemic arises: I believe that the people who will most likely die from the illness, will not be: BIPOC, LGBTQ, autoimmune or pre-existing disease patients, or white people who follow protocol. Only one group remains, which I shall not discuss here. Because I prefer not to be banned from Medium.
Shoutout to Winston who introduced the Coffee Times Lounge.
