Summary

The content discusses the importance of observing one's natural response to internal pressure without trying to immediately replace it with an ideal response.

Abstract

The article urges readers to refrain from hastily adopting perceived ideal responses to internal pressure, suggesting instead a mindful observation and understanding of their unique response patterns. It emphasizes the value of watching oneself succumb to common coping mechanisms such as entertainment, emotional eating, or excessive productivity, while resisting the urge to robotize or forcefully change these responses. By observing without judgment and avoiding the temptation to mimic others' behavior, individuals can allow the emergence of a response that is not based on dependencies or escape methods but rather on a natural resolution that comes with awareness at its own pace. A key point is to simply let things be as they are without making the pressure response into another task on the to-do list.

Opinions

  • The author advocates that the response to internal pressure should not be rushed nor robotized.
  • Copying superior people’s habits is discouraged; instead, one's own unique pressure responses should be observed.
  • There is an appeal to strip away dependencies such as thinking or other avoidance strategies and to develop an uncorrupted view of one's personal pressure response.
  • The article suggests that seeking an ideal response can simply create a new form of pressure, negating any benefits of the original sought-after response.
  • The concept of impatience in the face of internal pressure is presented negatively, implying it may hinder the cultivation of a more beneficial and organic response.

The Pressure Response

What is your pressure response?

forget about the ideal response to pressure — I mean the internal pressure — if an ideal response is provided that would become our new pressure to perform so.

do not try to change your response to pressure no matter how destructive or useless it is at least do not corrupt it don't be impatient to robotize an ideal response just to save your ass.

instead, be interested in watching your response — the response to any internal pressure — sedate with entertainment, emotional eating, alcohol, drugs, overthinking, tightening muscles, crossing your legs, restless legs, bite nails, podcast listening, productivity, positive thinking? whatever be it watch it — pressure response — in an uncorrupted way without lazily copying superior people’s habits.

the ideal response might be to strip away any dependency any holding on to crutches dropping dependency on thinking or other escape methods and just let it be as it is but again don’t make it into another doing let wise response and understanding arise organically at its own pace as you put in the work which is — watching your pressure response without placing the responsibility on the thinking-mind to undo the pressure.

When in Pressure shine your Presence and let unwise Responses melt away at its own pace
