The willingness to show up changes us. It makes us a little braver each time. -Brené Brown

We’ve all thought about things we wanted to start, create, move towards, manifest.

We’ve decided to start. Great! We mark the day on the calendar or decide to start tomorrow. The day to start arrives and…. the little voice in our head starts telling us things like

  • I don’t feel like it
  • I really don’t want to
  • I’m out of the mood
  • I don’t know how
  • This is too hard
  • I’m too old, young, overweight, tired, not smart enough, not pretty enough for this

How to switch to a more positive place in your head and heart to just start?

Showing up is essential. Showing up consistently is powerful. Showing up consistently with a positive outlook is even more powerful. -Jeff Olson

We just show up and do the work.

There is power in just showing up, not thinking too hard about starting. We’ve already decided to start. Use these positive affirmations and mantras

  • It’s on my plan, so I have to do it. I’m just going to execute my plan.
  • Past Me decided to do it. Future Me will thank me for doing it. Let’s do it.
  • I’ll be really glad I started. I’m going to just take the first step. One step.
  • I don’t need to decide about this or think about it. I’ve already decided.
  • This is for me. An act of love for me. Let’s get to the loving.
  • Yes, “just this once” does hurt. Let’s not fall into that old pattern.
  • It’s time. Let’s go to work like a pro.
  • I give myself permission to just do it for 10 minutes. Then, I can stop if I want to. I can do 10 minutes.
