The Perfect Self-love Day

In light of this brand-new month of February and Valentine’s Day coming up, I thought that it would be a great idea to participate in this lovely prompt hosted by Dancing Elephants Press. In this prompt, we are to write about what a day of self-love would look like to us. Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles did a great job with her prompt!

My Self-love Day

Just imagining a whole day to submerge myself in self-love sounds amazing! The love that we give ourselves is so important and it is often overlooked or pushed to the side as we tend to others and what life throws at us.

My day would start with a delicious homemade breakfast, fully equipped with some warm comfort food! I am dreaming of pancakes, eggs, French toast, and sausage. This meal of mine would be paired with a delicious cup of tea or coffee. It makes me feel warm inside just thinking of it.

After breakfast, I would turn on the TV to catch up on some of my favorite shows. I hardly have any time to watch TV lately and I truly miss it so much. It is a way that I can relax and unwind, it helps me escape reality for a bit.

Next, it’s time to put my sneakers on and head outside for a long walk. I adore nature and I try to spend as much time outdoors as I possibly can. I love all seasons and all types of weather. I am happiest surrounded by the beauty of nature. I love to take long walks and see what adventure it takes me on. I love the sun on my skin, the crisp air, the birds singing, the rain falling, the wildlife in my presence, and a snow-covered ground. I love it all. Nature leaves me feeling relaxed and carefree. It is so uplifting and refreshing.

After my walk, it's time to sit down and do some writing! I love to write, and I try to write every single day. It truly helps me mentally and I notice that when I don’t write, I am not at my best. Writing releases, a lot of emotions for me. The act of letting thoughts flow onto a page is so beautiful. Writing brings me great joy and happiness.

After writing, my appetite is sure to have made itself known. My self-love lunch and dinner meals will be something delicious. I love a large variety of foods from all over the world. I eat really healthy and balanced, but I also love junk food. I guess you could call me a special kind of balanced eater. The one that will eat pizza with a green smoothie. I love spicy food and meals with lots of vegetables. Chicken is my go-to, but I love seafood, hamburgers, and ground turkey as well.

My sweet tooth would need to be satisfied as well. I might even have to splurge a little given that Valentine’s Day is near! I love all kinds of desserts and candy. I especially love chocolate. I would definitely have a chocolaty dessert on my self-love day.

After my delicious dessert, I would end this amazing day with a hot bath. I love taking baths. They are so relaxing, and it is like being wrapped in a warm hug as I submerge myself into the warm water. I love to use bath bombs as well. They are not as dangerous as they sound! Bath bombs are made with essential oils, and they make the bath smell amazing. It truly adds to the relaxation and ambiance. I usually stay in the tub until I start to wrinkle, sometimes I feel like I need to be pried out. It’s a little piece of Heaven on Earth.

Closing

This prompt was so much fun! I had a blast coming up with my self-love day and searching for pictures to go with my story. I feel relaxed just thinking about a day like this.

We all need a day to ourselves, a day to relax and unwind, a day to escape life for a bit. We need days that we look out for ourselves and take great care of ourselves. We must take care of ourselves so that we can put our best foot forwards in life. We are then able to care for others and get through anything that life throws at us.

Take time this Valentine’s Day to show yourself some love, you truly deserve it. Think of all of the love that you give to others, take some time for yourself. You will be so thankful that you did!
