September Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Shadows”
In the shadow of the arches.
I love taking photos through windows and arches. There’s something profound about it, like I’m capturing images of another world.
The village where I took this picture, Portovenere on the Italian Riviera, is indeed otherworldly. Ancient buildings cling to cliffs overlooking a quaint harbor below. The Mediterranean Sea shines beyond.
I just adore Portovenere’s nickname — “The Pearl of the Gulf of Poets.” This area of Liguria has been loved and written about by Dante, Petrarch, Byron, Shelley, and many more besides.
Who knows? Maybe one day they will add my name to that list — and yours.
