The Parent of Today, the Parent of Yesterday

A short poem about how dementia takes one life and gives another life.

Yesterday is gone, today is new the parent who was is anew to no fault of their own it just is, what it is no time for tears be thankful for the years time left on this earth is a blessing no matter what hasting time away makes regret for a future day go with what you have someone in a worse state easily could wish to walk in your shoes their parent no longer exist on earth love the parent you have cherish the parent you had Dementia affects the brain but the heart and spirit remains through the eyes of others they replace fear with love as you bring a smile to the lips a chuckle to the heart each day is unique for all but God makes the day sending many blessings your way as you stand in the gap for the parent who once was.
