The Number 1 Predictor of Physical Attractiveness in Men
Want to become more attractive?
If you’re a heterosexual man, there’s one specific trait that is a strong predictor of physical attractiveness.
The best part is that you can acquire it through hard work.
Before I reveal what trait this is, I want to make one thing clear:
If we assume that men’s desire for sex and different partners is independent of their own attractiveness, it is logical that more attractive men get more partners. That’s why I think it’s worthwhile to train yourself for this characteristic. I mean, who does not want to be attractive?
However, I am not saying that you should take advantage of it and sleep with as many women as possible. In fact, that’s probably a bad thing to do. You will probably hurt some women and sleeping around casually is probably not the most fulfilling thing for you either.
But who am I to tell you what you should do? I just wanted to clarify that the message of this article is not: “Work on this characteristic and sleep with as many women as possible”.
The Shoulder To Hip Ratio
The feature I’m talking about is a v-shaped upper body characterized by broad shoulders and a narrow core.
Evolutionary psychologists assume that this physique symbolizes good genes, health, dominance, and the ability to defend and is therefore particularly attractive to women.
The physique of a man can be quantified by the so-called shoulder-to-hip ratio. To achieve this, the shoulder width is divided by the hip width. If your shoulders are exactly as wide as your hips, your SHR is 1. If your shoulders are twice as wide as your hips, it is 2, which is quite unrealistic though.
The perfect ratio seems to be 1.6.
In their study, published in the Journal of Evolution and Human Behavior, Hughes and Gallup found that a high SHR is associated with sexual intercourse at an earlier age, more sexual partners, but also more extra-pair copulations, namely cheating.
How To Achieve A High SHR?
For a high SHR, you need two things:
- Broad shoulders.
- Narrow hips.
In order to get broad shoulders you have to build upper body strength. Focus on your lats and shoulders to get this v-taper look.
The second is earned in the kitchen, with a good diet in addition to your physical training to achieve a low body fat percentage.
