Summary

The Medium Partner Program is expected to introduce a new requirement where only paying Medium members will be eligible to participate, adding to the existing criteria for earning money through the platform.

Abstract

The Medium Partner Program is on the verge of a significant change that will likely impact its members. As discussed in a recent post, there is speculation about an upcoming requirement that will mandate participants to be paying members of Medium to earn money through the Partner Program. This new stipulation will be an addition to the current four requirements for new applicants, which include having 100 followers, one published story, publishing at least one story every six months, and maintaining a $10 withdrawal minimum. The article suggests that with a decent following and a strong writing portfolio, earning more than the membership fee should be feasible for most members. The author also hints that this change could inadvertently boost the platform's referral program, as members may encourage others to join Medium to meet the new eligibility criteria.

Opinions

  • The author believes that the new requirement for the Medium Partner Program is inevitable.
  • It is implied that the change could be beneficial for the referral program, as it may encourage members to recruit new paying members to Medium.
  • The author seems to hold a positive view on the feasibility of earning more than the membership fee with 100 followers and a good resume.
  • There is an underlying opinion that the new requirement is a strategic move to ensure that members have a financial stake in the platform before they can earn from it.

The Next Big Change Coming to the Medium Partner Program

It’s inevitable in my opinion.

I mentioned it in my recent post “You Can Now Earn Money From External Views on Medium”. One additional requirement may be coming to the Medium Partner Program soon. And this is going to be a big one that will fuel the referral program unexpectedly.

Pay money to earn money

Additionally to the 4 current requirements for new Partner Program applicants

  1. 100 followers
  2. 1 published story
  3. publishing at least 1 story every 6 months
  4. $10 withdrawal minimum

there’s going to be number

5. The Medium Partner Program will only be eligible to paying Medium members

This would ensure that members have to pay money to earn money. With 100 followers and a good resume, it shouldn’t be too hard to earn more than the $5 fee. Don’t you think?
