POETRY ON MEDIUM
The Muse’s Maze
Forever in a Haze

Giving every last beat of my replenishing heart over to the redemptive score of your reflective mind I swim oceans of resting thought in search of your face, your voice, your boundless art I wander the wilderness of liminal expanse joyfully pursuing your airy hidden retreat Coming upon it as in a willing trance The past just an empty void, a snowing TV threatening to suck me in, lull me to sleep The lilting melody I feel inside, pulling at my tender tendons and heartstrings Led me on a slow motion sprint to your core, a metaphor labyrinthine I will wander for all time In a dizzying maze of sound Walls shoot up towering above me Running a rock along the right hand wall Never reaching the other end meeting you

Taking inspiration from another living human being is a real dance, a balancing act. Letting them fuel your art while still channelling your own experiences, words, and emotions is a labyrinth one has to navigate, sometimes in the dark, but it is worth it. I feel as if there is a bottomless well at the center of the maze, but to stay in the center of confusion forever could be dangerous. So, one has to ferry back and forth.
Tapping into inspiration at regular intervals. Yet still coming back to “real life,” whatever that is on a daily basis. Doing dishes, taking showers, eating food, and engaging with others work here on Medium. I suppose that is all part of “real life.” Just a little bit of musing on getting caught up in the Muse. ❤ (I definitely don’t have dishes in my sink and laundry in my basket, LOL)
Since this is my first submission here I will also include a link to my list “Muse touched art”. Many are directly dedicated to the muse, but some of these were just written “under the influence” of my muse if that makes sense.
