The Most Important Journey of My Life — A Journey That You Should Embark On As Well
Do you know who you are?
The most important journey of our lives is the journey of self-discovery. To figure out how who we really are, and to discover what the highest possibilities in life are, then choose to walk that path all the way.
None of us came into this world with a manual. A how-to document that describes how every part of us was formed and knit together to create a being so unique and powerful that it feels like a thousand lifetimes may not be enough to discover it all, yet we’re supposed to do it in one lifetime.
Except that we have a manual of some sort. Our Hearts.
Your heart already knows who you are and what you’re all about.
Do you know what your heart truly wants or do you ignore it?
The greatest tragedy of our human experience is that we take on so much junk along the way, that our true selves become buried deep under all the layers.
Whether you realize it or not, throughout our lives we have been saturated with false values. We have been conditioned to take on other people’s values but ours.
We’ve been conditioned to question that inner voice, that nudging, the one leading us to truth, leading us towards the path of life.
We end up living a conflicted life borne out of the war between our hearts that keeps trying to get our attention, and other people’s values that we’ve taken on.
We experience internal chaos because we are trying to live someone else’s values, we judge ourselves, and judge our values.
We try to be what we think we should be in order to make it in this world, forgetting that you were created perfectly for your purpose. You are the perfect piece of this puzzle.
It’s the judgement to yourself that creates chaos because you think you should be living someone else’s values. ~ Dr. Alok Trivedi
Decide right now to reprogram yourself with truth
Take off all the external expectations that are crippling you, stop comparing and competing. Focus on building your body, mind, and spirit so that you can be empowered to realize your highest potential.
When you really know who you are and what you are capable of, you will have no need to compare or compete.
I’m sure you’ve seen this quote before
Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by the ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that is stupid. ~ Albert Einstein (I think?)
If you live your life in comparison or competition you will miss out on the best of who you are.
If up until now, your definition of success has been to be better than someone else, this is a nudge for you, a sign if you will from the universe to stop.
Quit trying to be like someone else, or to be a better version of them and keep your focus on finding fulfillment.
Because living with that mindset limits you. Your limit will be determined by the other person’s achievements or lack of it.
Stretch your limits
Life is not a race. It is a personal journey because we all have different paths.
Life is about stretching YOUR own limits and fully taking responsibility for the value you provide and for YOUR service.
Have the courage to be a trail blazer to go where no one has gone and leave a path, be okay being different or not fitting into the mold you’re ‘expected’ to fit in to.
I have four young daughters and my greatest fear as a mother is that I would undermine who they really are and condition them into something they’re not.
However, I am learning to not be paralyzed by that fear, but to use it as feedback and wake up each morning with a heart of service towards them.
I choose each day to see them as fellow humans on this journey of life and to take seriously the privilege I have right now to be a guide to them.
I also know that I cannot give what I do not have, and that the best gift I can give to them is for me to be fully me, to heal and to live a life that inspires me.
Everyday, I am examining my heart, my life, my intentions, my motivations, making sure I’m in alignment and in tune with the imprints left on my heart when that lucky sperm fertilized the egg and I was formed.
You have to be willing to do the same as well
You don’t have to upend your life in one fell swoop, but you can start from where you are. Start by learning to recognize and pay more attention to that still inner voice.
Step 1 — Take inventory: Examine your life without judgement
I know some of the questions below may sound cliche, but many of us do not really take the time to dig deep and answer the questions honestly. Even when we do, we are sometimes quick to dismiss the answers, because we automatically go back to old patterns and mindsets that says it’s not possible.
Before you read on and answer these questions, I want you to put on your anything is possible cap and remember that everything works out for your good when you commit to and focus on your mission and values.
You have a magnificent mind, and you deserve to give yourself the chance to live a life that inspires you, a life that you do not try to escape from time to time, a life of fulfillment with no regrets.
Let’s get to it:
- If you knew that it was impossible to fail and you had all the resources you need, what would you love to do with your time and your life?
- Why?
- If you had just 1 hour left to live, would you regret not following that path?
- What do you want your memorial tributes at your funeral to say?
- What in the world is stopping you? and is it worth it?
Closing remarks and some quotes ( I love quotes)
“If all of us did what truly matters to us, this would be a fantastic world.”
~ Sadhguru
Here’s an invitation to you my friend:
Do not let the noise of other people’s opinions and expectations drown out your own inner voice. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
~ Steve Jobs
I am hoping that you and I will truly live from the inside out, doing what matters.
Every day that I show up on these streets, I am emptying myself a little bit more, because I don’t just want to die lighter, I want to die empty.
I want to lay it all on the field, give every single part of the gift that I am away in service to humanity.
Sometimes life gets so overwhelmingly hard and challenging, but it becomes simpler when you are doing what truly matters to you.
A tiny seed is all it takes.
The next part is up to you, nurture the seed and let it blossom into something beautiful.
Until the next perfect time ~ Deola
