Summary

The article discusses the most attractive male body type, emphasizing the importance of a V-taper with a shoulder-to-hip ratio of 1.618, and provides tips on exercise and nutrition to achieve this without extreme bodybuilding.

Abstract

The article "The Most Attractive Male Body Type- and how to get there" explores the evolutionary drive behind men's desire to be attractive to women. It challenges the common perception that an extremely muscular and lean body is the ideal, instead presenting research that suggests a body with a V-taper, characterized by wide shoulders and a narrow waist, is more universally attractive. The ideal shoulder-to-hip ratio is identified as the golden ratio of 1.618. The article advises on specific upper body exercises and proper nutrition, including protein intake, to achieve this physique. It also notes that a body fat percentage of around 12% is considered attractive and provides links to additional resources on weight loss and other attractive traits in men.

Opinions

  • The author believes that men often overlook the importance of their physical appearance, particularly their body shape, in attracting the opposite sex.
  • A very muscular body with low body fat is not necessarily the most attractive; a more attainable physique with a V-taper is preferred.
  • The golden ratio of 1.618 for shoulder-to-hip width is considered extremely attractive.
  • A moderate body fat percentage of 12% is deemed more attractive than the extremely low body fat percentages often pursued by bodybuilders.
  • The author stresses the importance of both exercise, such as lat pulldowns and bench presses, and proper nutrition, including post-workout protein shakes, in achieving an attractive body.
  • The article suggests that men can become more attractive by focusing on developing a strong upper body and maintaining a healthy body fat percentage, rather than pursuing extreme muscle definition.

These things will make your attractiveness skyrocket

As a man, one of the biggest goals is to be attractive to the opposite sex. From an evolutionary point of view, this is logical. The goal of procreation is programmed into the DNA of us men. To achieve it, men will do just about anything: dating apps, expensive cars and clothes, and not too rarely even lie to get women into bed. But one thing is often neglected: the body. But it is probably one of the most important things when it comes to attractiveness.

What is the ideal? What should we work toward?

It’s probably not what you think. You probably think of a very muscular body with 8% body fat. Shredded as fitness freaks would say. Fortunately, it’s not quite like that. In this article, I have described in more detail which body type is the most attractive according to a representative survey.

Now that you know more specifically what the goal should be when trying to become more attractive, let’s look at some specific things that will get you there.

Probably the most important part is the shoulder to hip ratio. The so-called V-taper has been proven to be extremely attractive. Wide shoulders and a narrow waist so to speak. The ideal ratio is 1.618. This number is referred to as the famous golden ratio.

To achieve this we need:

  • A strong upper body. Especially a well-developed lat and strong shoulders.
  • Relatively little body fat

But as you read in the other article: we don’t have to take it to the extreme. 12% body fat and a decent amount of muscle mass is even considered more attractive than a body builder’s body.

Building a strong upper body

For that, we have to go to the gym. Or at least train. There’s no way around that. Here are a few selected exercises that will give us a wide, strong upper body.

  • Lat pulldown
  • lateral shoulder raise
  • bench press
  • shoulder push
  • pull-ups
  • rowing

In addition to training, proper nutrition is crucial. Especially the protein intake. That’s why I recommend a protein shake after training.

Getting somewhat lean

Most people have more than 12% body fat. So I’m going to assume that you’re going to have to lose a little bit of weight to get there, too.
