The Middle Class: The Group of People Who Pretend To Be Rich
Are you one of them?
I have different friends belonging to all walks of life.
They speak different languages — and live varying lifestyles. What usually separates them is how they treat and view money.
Those who earn below minimum wage are very explicit about their economic standing. No pretensions, no deceptions — pure transparency, and they do not mind if they message you at any time — and ask for help.
They cook their food — and try to defer spending $1 for a meal to save it for some meals sooner. They usually account for coins and use each to the last centavo.
The “real” wealthy people I know did not care what watch he i(s) wearing. They do not use loud logos to make a point to the public.
And they do not mind how people would see them. They know the fine things — but would not expose them to the public.
And here goes the middle-class earner.
They are usually — employed.
They yearn to look rich and be affiliated with the rich. Others want to have the fine things — even if it means loaning a vital amount of money paid in years.
I was once a victim of this perspective — and I am thankful I am veering away from it. Sometimes there are remnants of wanting and showcasing material things –but I would say I have transformed my ways, practicing what the poor and rich do for my benefit.
I recall paying for almost a $35k sports utility vehicle (a luxury here in my home country) to look and feel good — even if it meant paying $700 monthly out of my salary — I did it for sixty months.
Well, I did not regret it — but I will never buy or level up my purchase if it was something too much for me when I see my income statement.
There was a time — I wanted to buy a Rolex since my boss and colleague had one. But I shoved away the idea since it was not practical. I still want one — but maybe when my income hits $25k a month.
It is tiring to observe the lies of pretending to be rich. It is a chasing game you can never chase unless you change your mental frames.
They live on paycheck alone.
I have seen middle-class people. They have nice things on earth.
Everything was financed by the loan. But upon experiencing a cut from the source — life abruptly transforms for the worst.
And that folks merely reveal what class of thinking they behold.
The pretentious middle income-earner.
