The Medium trick to boost your views

Photo by Jack Sparrow : https://www.pexels.com/photo/woman-in-yellow-sweater-using-a-macbook-5917856/

I stumbled upon this story today on Medium. It talked about doing this one thing to help improve your stats and get more views on your Medium stories. I have to give full credit to the author because this hack is game-changing.

Here’s her story. I encourage you to read it…

With this change, she noticed what she called a “shocking difference” in her stats.

To be honest, it makes complete sense.

What’s the views-boosting trick?

Commenting!

Go figure, right?

I’ve been doing this on my own stories for a while, to improve engagement. I write a story, readers comment, and I reply back. It’s an engagement booster, for sure.

I never thought that commenting on other people's stories would boost my stats as well, but it makes total sense.

A lot of platforms and social networks operate this way.

They reward you for using their platform.

So on other sites, whether you comment, like, heart, add to your favorites, or bookmark content, that action is favorable, and often, you will be thanked by the platform.

On Pinterest, if you adopt their new tool, idea pins, you get way more views than using their older standard pin template.

On Tik Tok, if you use a new trend in your content, while it’s not guaranteed, it’s likely that you’ll get more views and/or engagement on that video.

And, it works the same way for many other platforms.

Why not, Medium?

Takeaways

Does commenting really work?

I have to admit I am guilty of not commenting as much as I probably should. I love consuming content on Medium but I’m a scanner when I read most of the time. And, I don’t take the time to comment.

Even for stories that are a favorite of mine….and, stories I’ll save to my reading list, I rarely comment and I hate that I don’t.

I want to take more time to leave feedback on stories here on Medium.

I’ll be trying this and I will write a follow-up on if it worked or not.

What do you think?

Have you noticed an uptick in your stats as a result of commenting on other Medium stories?
