The Lay of the Land
The day the accountant showed up
(A Lucas Winslow Story — Episode 4)
He had not yet owned the property for a full week but he had already walked over all 22 acres of it. He had found five power spots and today on the sixth day of his new ownership he found the final sixth power spot.
It was located at the very western edge of the property in the old abandoned field. The field had not held any grazing livestock in many years. The barbed wire fence on the western side of the field was no longer functional. There were still many wooden posts but very little barbed wire left. Some of the posts were slanted towards the ground and some of them were missing.
Turning around in a full circle he surveyed the field. Most of the field had reverted to natural scrub brush but there was still some grass left — grass that horses might feed on. He figured the field had not been irrigated in several years. He noticed a few small patches of young prickly pear cacti poking up from the earth and a few young yucca plants popping up in what once was a field of grass.
The rocks in the field had been cleared except for four rather large ones that he was now standing in the middle of. Why were these four rocks left in the field? They were all of similar size and they were all in exact distances from each other. He pulled out his compass and his suspicions were confirmed.
He was sure that those four rocks were once part of a circle of rocks. The compass confirmed that each of those four rocks sat on one of four cardinal points of direction; north, east, south, and west. Looking at the indentations of the soil between those rocks showed that smaller rocks had once connected the four larger rocks to form a circle.
He had seen many stone circles in his real-life explorations as well as in his dreams. They were remnants of markings from people from long ago times. Of this he was sure.
To find and purchase property like this with so many power spots was extreme good fortune. But he felt that there was still another power spot — one far more powerful than the ones on his new land — that he still had not found.
Standing in the center of what surely was once a circle of rocks denoting a power spot, he closed his eyes and turned around in a complete circle. With an empty mind he felt the vibrations from every angle of the circle. Suddenly, he came to an extremely strong vibration. Opening his eyes and looking down at his compass, he saw that he was standing facing due west.
The seventh power spot — the one he was searching for — was not on his new property but rather in the pinon and juniper studded hillsides just west of his property. It was wild land with no homes or roads… and the spot was not very far away.
Still facing west, he put the compass in his pocket and closed his eyes again. He held out his arms in a 45 degree angle away from his body then began the Spinning White Light Hands Technique to put him into a heightened state of receptivity. And that is when he heard his name being called out…
“Lucas! Hey, Lucas!”
Lucas opened his eyes and turned around. He saw John, his accountant, walking down the hillside towards him.
When John made his way to Lucas he held out his hand and the two of them shook hands.
“So Lucas, I knew you were here because your car is here but no one answered the door to the house so I figured you were out here somewhere on your new 22 acres.”
“And here I am.”
John looked around, “Wow, this place really is beautiful. So whatchya doin’ down here?”
“I was just looking for power spots.”
“Uh… oh… uh… well… o… kay. Did you find any?”
Lucas smiled, “I sure as hell did.”
“Oh,” John’s face screwed up in confusion. “Well, that’s nice. Listen, I’ve been driving all freaking-ass day. I’ve crossed three states to get here to talk to you and I have to say that I am thoroughly exhausted.” John pointed towards the setting sun, “It’s getting late. I just wanted to find your new place and check in with you. I have a motel room booked in town and I’m gonna head into town to find some tequila then check into my room and very quickly drink myself to sleep.”
“O… kay.”
“But I’m gonna come back early in the morning to pick you up and take you into town. We’ve got a lot of work to do. We’ve got to go to the bank and the post office and the court house. This whole thing you want me to do is pretty complicated.”
“But it’s legal, right?”
“I consulted my lawyer — and I’ll be billing you for that, by the way — and he says it’s legal. He says it’s really weird, though, and I have to agree with him. I still don’t know why you’re doing this, Lucas. Why are you trying to hide?”
“I’m not hiding. I’m disappearing.”
“What’s the freaking difference?”
“Well… uh… when you’re hiding you’re hiding FROM something or someone. When you’re disappearing, you’re… uh… well… you’re… uh… disappearing from something or someone.”
John rolled his eyes, “Lucas, seriously, did you just hear what you said? Listen, I’ll be back early in the morning so be ready. We need to get this done and talk about all the ramifications tomorrow so that I can drive back home. I have other clients you know.”
With this John turned around and began walking back up the hill.
“Wait! Let me walk you back to your car. I really appreciate you coming, you know.”
As the two men walked back up the hill Lucas, at one point, turned back around to look at the four rocks and the land and the setting sun beyond them.
Silently, he vowed, Tomorrow when I’m done with John I will take a hike into that wild country to find that power spot! I know it’s there!
