The Last Leg Was Hell
Fitness Six Word Photo Story: Freestyle
But I finished the damn race!
Last month, I did the Vancouver Triathlon. It was my third triathlon since I started racing last year, but I swear, it was the most fun triathlon I’ve ever done — even though running the last leg of the race hurt my feet like hell.
While this isn’t the most flattering photo of me in action, it’s raw and real.
You can read my full story below — published in Age of Empathy. That’s me in the feature photo.
NOTE FROM EDITORS: We’re super busy with our day jobs and life stuff this month, so there may be delays in responding to and publishing submissions. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Mary, Sandi, & Vidya. Lastly, my apologies if I sound blunt or straight to the point when I’m sending private notes on your stories — I'm trying to save time!
On another note, we’re open for submissions and invite you to submit to the current October Challenge “Site or Sight” this month, led by the wonderful Sandi Parsons. Can you tell a story in six words encompassing “Site or Sight” (or cite) inspired by a photo taken by yourself? Deadline is NOON, Tuesday, October 31, 2023, Pacific Standard Time.
Full details and rules are below.
Note: Freestyle submissions are always open. Writers are welcome to respond to any previous Monthly Challenges that have passed and submit them as Freestyle pieces. To be added as a writer to this publication, please visit the submission guidelines. Big hugs to my amazing co-editors, Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles, and Sandi Parsons — the best team ever.
