You steal one last glance at Alaric’s lifeless body and tuck the athame into your belt. Walking a few steps ahead of the mage out of the cave, you consider your options.
Kill the mage in his sleep…
Contact Dara…
Make a run for it…
You attempt to commit to a course of action, but you lose your footing and slide down a steep bank. The wind whips your face as you crash into a hollow in the forest.
“Idiot!” Lorenzo yells.
It’s now or never.
You dash into the forest, the heat under your skin prickling with every step.
Continue.
