The Keto Diet Is Stupid
The more complicated a diet, the more people need to rely on a “professional” that takes their money.

Diets set people up for failure. Especially a diet that is so complicated, cutting out many common food groups, that people don’t even know where to start.
Like Keto.
The most unsustainable diet in the world.
Hence, Keto is stupid.
The Problem With “Diets”
The first problem with diets is that they’re a short-term solution.
For example, if somebody goes on Keto, they’re so far removed from their usual diet and lifestyle.
They follow the strict advice of somebody.
Then, they don’t really learn anything about the calories. Diets don’t tend to teach us how to make better choices. So, people don’t learn how to tweak their current routine to become in a caloric deficit to keep losing weight in the long term.
These diets are so challenging to continue long-term that four out of five people will fail any diet.
You can’t live your life — it’s harder to dine out, travelling is a nightmare, it’s impossible to cater for your diet and keep the kids happy.
If something is not sustainable enough that it is going to make a difference in the long term, then it’s not worth the effort.
Then, people revert to old the habits that made them overweight in the first place, as it’s all they know.

The problem with Keto
Carbohydrates (carbs) are the most efficient energy source for our bodies.
But, carbs are almost completely avoided by the Ketogenic (keto) diet. To be in ketosis, you can only consume 20-50 grams a day of carbs. Otherwise, you can’t be in this “ketosis” state. Considering that one average apple has 25 grams of carbs, keto is very hard to achieve.
Many people who claim to be keto are only on a high-fat diet. And they’ll still lose weight if they are in a calorie deficit. Which they probably are, because carbs are in most good things worth eating.
Typically, 70–80% of daily calories come from fat. I know bacon is great, but there are many other things you miss. It’s impossible to eat out with friends.
Forget about pizza, burgers, bread or any starchy carb like sweet potato.
You have to avoid most beverages unless it is sugar-free.
Examples of Keto foods
Some of these foods are examples of what a keto diet can be based on. You still have to moderate how much you eat, especially the fruit and vegetables, as the carbs will add up fast.
Meat and Poultry
- Beef
- Lamb
- Chicken
- Seafood
- Eggs
- Cheese
- Milk
Vegetables, very limited fruit and nuts/seeds
- Chia seeds
- Avocado
- Walnuts
- Almonds
- Cauliflower
- Mushrooms
- Berries

Examples of foods you cannot eat on Keto
The problem is everything you cannot have. There are even some vegetables that will be too high in carbs, most fruit, and pretty much everything else.
Vegetables
- Potatoes and sweet potatoes
- Corn
- Beetroot
The majority of fruit
- Oranges
- Bananas
- Peaches
- Kiwifruit
- Mangoes
- Grapes
- Apples
Grains & Processed foods
- Any bread
- Most yogurt
- Juices
- Honey, syrup or sugar
- Chips and crackers
- All baked goods (in general)
In Conclusion
When it comes to managing your weight, what matters is how many calories you eat.
When it comes to your health, you want to eat whole foods dense in nutrients.
Such as fruit and vegetables. Grains. All sorts of things with carbs.
If given many options for somebody who wants to be keto, I’m not saying it’s completely out of the question for everyone. I will fit some peoples’ routines and eating habits.
But for most, it won’t. And that’s why Keto is stupid.
