The Journey To Be Whole

A Vagabond Voices prompt response

There is wonder in the world beyond the body. But my body is my home, my magical vessel carrying my thoughts, my soul, my fears, my joy. Each step, a blessing, each breath, a moment to cherish this fleshy mortal, one, complete.

Years, it’s taken, to connect my (marvellous) mind, (beautiful) body. One rejecting the other, regularly, randomly, viciously, until peace, presence. A settling, not giving-up, instead, a marriage, partnership, a melding of me, whole, one, complete.

Perhaps that is life. A journey to being whole, united, unified. Wandering, breathing in fire, lack, culture, words breathing out passion, remorse, pain, words. An ebb and flow of feelings, logic, emotion, fact. Slowly absorbing the essence of being one, complete.

Reflection is part of the past, remnants of times, lost in a sea, sultry, sad, serene, slippery, like wisps. Pondering the future, foggy, hopeful, a trip into potential, maybe, perhaps. The present is as presents are, delightful, disappointing, all of it. The feelings, on the journey to be one, complete.

This wonderful writing prompt from Trisha Traughber took me on a journey of reflection. I think I’ve spent a long time not acknowledging my body, that my mind, body, soul are in fact, one.

We can often be at war with our bodies. Dissatisfaction with our body’s shape, size, flexibility, ability, and it can really have an impact on our souls, on our lives. Taking a walk with my body is something I do regularly now. I do yoga, I walk, I feel, all with more connection between my thinking mind and my wonderful body. I’m glad to have reached this point.

~thanks for reading~
