STORY ARC #4 HERO OF PENDOWN
The Inevitable Goodbye
“I’ll take care of this evil on my own then!”

This is a continuation of Relegated to the Bench, part of a wider ‘Choose Your Own’ tale entitled The Hero of Pendown . Check out how you can contribute, as well as read other amazing entries here.
“Will nobody aid me in this, our world’s time of most dire need?”
You try for hours to convince the people in the cathedral to rise up and become the heroes that you always believed them to be.
But your words fall upon deaf ears. They have no interest in helping you — or the world, for that matter — and seem content to just ignore the cataclysmic events and move on with their day.
“I’ll take care of this evil on my own then!” you grumble to yourself as you move to the back rooms.
You pack your belongings from your tiny shared room past the cathedral’s antechamber. You gather your best cloak, and some rations for the road, and head out of the opulent structure.
It had been your home for nearly a century, but something just didn’t feel right about it anymore.
“Pendown, too,” you mutter under your breath as you reach the outer gates of the city. The gates outside await, and you pray to your gods that you will find the evil and stop it from plaguing your people.
You saw the explosion to the north, but you can also make out smoke from the forests in the east.

Please consider following my Medium account and subscribing to my email list to stay up-to-date, because Eshami will need all the help she can get. I also encourage comments as I want to hear what you think! Maybe if you yell loud enough she’ll hear you!
I also have a Ko-fi account set up here. Buy my affections for a Twonie! What’s that? You only have American money? Okay, I’ll accept your $1.70 or so. Geez.
