How One Man Dream Changed the Game in Hollywood- The Iconic Tyler Perry’s Studios

You are what you eat, so eat well and on purpose! Yes, Mr. Perry, not only did he do it his way, he ate and ensured the many others in his arena were fed also.

He dreamed a dream. Dreams are sometimes made up of reality and/or nuggets of what’s to come. Just like Dr. King had a dream, everyone should have a dream for the betterment of humanity.

What is thought about prior to sleeping resides in one’s subconscious and may manifest in dreams for one reason or another. Dream a dream that will get you what your heart desires. Repeat that dream over and over to yourself to embed in your subconscious for revelation to occur.

Since the last few days, news blasting about Tyler Perry’s latest acquisition, a 500 acre property from the military in Atlanta and his plans of adding to his already successful studios only bigger than ever. His new studios are bigger than an studios in history, Paramount, Fox, Sony, Disney and Warner Brothers, just to name a few.

Nobody saw this coming, just like no one saw the success of all of Tyler Perry’s efforts coming. He showed all even those who doubted his efforts or made attempts to knock his stage plays when they first emerged and even after their successes on the road. Many called them the chilling circuit type of productions. Well, all those talkers what do you think now as Mr. Perry has provided work for the famous, the up and coming famous and the unknown? This is an effort few can attest too. Many pretend to but the reality is lacking and the proof speaks for itself.

Oprah Winfrey, Denzil Washington, Viola Davis, Alva DuVernay , Beyoncé, Tamron hall, Will Smith, Cicely Tyson, and countless others famous, up and coming and almost famous attended this unveiling while many having studios named in their honor. This is truly a first for the black community globally. Have been on studio lots prior, but don’t recall any named after African American’s of yesterday or today. Mr. Perry is making history in so many manners and showing all how hard work does pay off as long as you keep the faith and keep moving.

Trailblazer, innovator, actor, writer, director, businessman are just a few of the names or titles befitting to Mr. Perry’s journey to success from being homeless for a brief period of time while haunted with the woes of his past life living in depravity with his mother and only wanting to make enough money to give his late mother a better life. He has done that and more.

Interesting with all his success, he admits that he was yet haunted by his depraved and deprived past and just recently was able to read and store his past in a place never to be haunted by it again. This is a monumental lesson for us all.

On television, all the talk is about the massiveness of Tyler Perry’s Studios. Various stars who attended the unveiling share their delight and astonishment of the magnitude of it all. Others were honored to have a studio with their name on it. Even the late John Singleton and Diahann Carroll names will take their place in this history of today to never be forgotten for their contribution to the entertainment history while they were trailblazers in their own right.

The newspaper, television and social media, Tyler Perry was everywhere. I am yet digesting it all and being thankful that someday I will get the opportunity to visit and perform there. Don’t know how and when this will happen, just know that it will. So elated that I just discovered a close cousin who lives in Atlanta which is perfect for me being a local while working on some of Tyler Perry’s production. Don’t care which one just want to be there and become a part of history. I dream a dream!!! In order for a dream to come true one must wake up and act!!

One full week of hearing about Tyler Perry’s monumental acquisition was embedded in my subconscious, and as I slept tonight all I dreamed about was my visit to Tyler Perry Studios. Perhaps sleeping with the television on added to my dreaming of Tyler Perry’s Studios or just all the talk and my surprise of the magnitude of his latest acquisition caused me to dream such a dream.

Nevertheless, I dreamed that Tyler Perry gave a personal tour to a group of actors around his studios. He’s known for giving unknowns a break and have loyalty for those in his camp. In my dream, he guided the group from room to room, studio to studio while been fascinated with the magnitude and the excitement of being, I often ventured off on my own to check out things in a more detailed fashion. Best part, he permitted and allowed my discovery. He didn’t seem to mind this at all. Also, I reminded him on two occasions of my desire to work at his studios and he just smiled. This smile I took as God’s confirmation of my new soon to be reality. For hours and hours, all night long, I dreamed of these studios. Usually in one night, I have multiple dreams of different events and people but this time was like a full production of dreaming and living the tour of Tyler Perry’s Studios.

When I awoke, I remembered all the details and smiled for I know that this is God’s way of saying stay the course and don’t faint very soon my ship will dock at Tyler Perry’s Studios. After dreaming The Dream I awoke at 4:00AM, I wanted to return to sleep but couldn’t stop thinking of my dream and one day working at Tyler Perry’s Studios. My thoughts about my dream kept running through my head, so up I jumped onto my computer to write down my dream and to make it plain as I pursued my dream.

Checking out social media, the first thing that flashed on Twitter was from Viola Davis talking about her delight with the magnitude and groundbreaking Tyler Perry’s studios! She stated, “Congrats to Tyler on the grand opening of the @TPStudios! He’s the first Black American to own a major film studio outright. The massive Atlanta film complex spans 330 acres with 12 sound stages.” Also, @AvaDuVernay talked about her desire to have taken photos but it was requested that no pictures be taken. Also, @AvaDuvernay stated, “Fun Fact: The studio lots of Disney, Warner Bros., Paramount, Fox and Sony could fit inside @tylerperry’s studio lot at the same time — and there would still be 60 acres to spare, all on a former Confederate Army base. A stunning achievement that will echo through the generations.” @AvaduVernay

In conclusion, Mr. Perry dreamed a dream and he dreamed big because he knew God wants his children to dream big and he will manifest that dream for the world to see. Let’s all those that is reading this blog, to walk in the shoes of Mr. Perry no matter how big they are. If you keep going, you will make it too your destination at the appointed time. Tyler Perry’s life is a testament that working hard, a good business sense and ignoring the naysayer will take you where you are suppose to be.
