The Hurried Child

A Commentary on Life, Love, and Parenting.

Art Yard © Brooklyn Muse

The Hurried Child.

Wake up!

“Come on…you will be late!”

“You cannot miss the bus!”

School bell!

“Come on…you will be late!”

Classes begin.

“Come on…get that assignment!”

Between classes.

“Come on…you will be late!”

Lunch.

“25 minutes, hurry up in line and then eat!”

After school.

“Don’t be late for practice!”

Home.

“Don’t be late for dinner!”

“Don’t be late for dance class, karate, band, softball…”

Weekends.

“Come on…help with the chores, wake up!”

“We cannot be late for Grandpa’s party!”

Insta, TikTok, Snapchat, Gaming in-between…

The Hurried Child.

Hurried Children grow to be Hurried Adults.

It is all they know.

As married adults, the couple raced through life,

trying to please everyone.

Then one day- they stopped.

After years and years of trying,

She is LATE.

They cry with joy.

This time around the child within her will not be hurried.

They realize the majesty of new beginnings.

I wish you peace, love, and all that hippie shit. ( It is good to have an edge)

I do drink coffee lots of it. All kinds, any kind. My new love is cortado- simple elegance. If you choose to you may — Buy me a coffee?

If you choose not to buy me a coffee, please remember to clap fifty (50) times. Just hold down that little finger…I could use the inspiration. Thanks.
