The Heir to the Incubi Throne Teaser Dribble
The Birth of the Heir

I often have loads of, hopefully, great ideas but struggle to develop them into full-blown stories. Sometimes they take on enough of a life on their own to become micro fiction or flash fiction pieces. More often than not, they end up consigned to the void (otherwise known as a seldom opened file on my laptop).
One of the many benefits of the seedling challenge is that it allows you to publish the small idea and build on it with support and feedback from the many amazing fiction writers on Medium. It also means you can develop the idea slowly, in stages, as you would a great oak from an acorn.
Now I have no idea whether my latest idea will become a great oak, a mediocre bush, or get swallowed by a crow, but here is the acorn. I hope you enjoy it.

Caleb raced to the healer’s room. His duties in the demon realm had overrun, and he was cutting it fine. He threw open the door as the baby took its first breath. The world swam as pain radiated through his spine. His mate’s screams were the last thing he heard.

Here is the Dribble that started my first attempt at the Seedling challenge
