The Golden Mean

The golden mean once I sought but my mind was fuzzy, fraught teetering between high and low blazing hellfire and biting snow

I performed mental acrobatics though I lacked any schematics balancing on an invisible rope all I was left with was a wild hope

‘Hope can drive you crazy’ someone said I don’t care, it is far better than despair at the and of it all, hope is all we have we are sane even when we seem mad

Drunk on hope and pissing on despair we might drown but we shall rise again but we need to learn to play the game learn to let go of our guilt and shame

Discover the golden harmony in between high and low, what eluded me as a teen rejoice in the ceremony of opposite ends bring them close and make them friends

Accept and embrace them like old friends they are both parts of us, one comprehends consider them a blessing rather than a curse allow them in our calmest waters to immerse

A poem by Nikolaos Skordilis. I wrote the first stanza as a comment on this post (+poem) of Athena Milios but then decided to develop it further, re-inspired and re-influenced by Lykke Li’s song.
