Back in the year of the great heat wave Kameli experienced great suffering at the hands of the unrelenting heat. The sleepless nights. The exhaustion. The odors. She did not want to go through that again. In her mind she was constantly traveling, looking for that perfect place where it never gets too hot and it never gets too cold.

Even though Kameli’s parents blessed her with a pretty Hawaiian name, they had no Hawaiian genes to offer. No, Kameli was just a white girl born of two aging white hippies out west somewhere. She had never even been to Hawaii.

Kameli liked her name. Throughout her childhood her parent’s repeatedly told her that the Hawaiian name, Kameli, means ‘honey.’ In her early adulthood she discovered that some men really like cute and unique girl names.

Of course, there was that time some stranger was hitting on her in a bar. He said, “Ooh baby, I find myself irresistibly drawn to you… like a bee to honey.”

That really killed the mood — although Kameli was not sure why.

It was after that incident that Kameli dived head first into honey — metaphorically. She proceeded to learn everything she could about honey; how it is made, the history of beekeeping, the health benefits, its many uses, the importance of organic honey, and why it tastes so good.

Kameli began eating enormous amounts of honey. First thing in the morning. Middle of the morning. Middle of the afternoon. Before dinner. Middle of the evening. Occasionally, as a snack, she would unscrew the top to the honey jar, open her mouth as she held her head back, and just pour the golden elixir into her mouth.

The more honey she ate, the more she changed. She found herself transforming into a whole new person. She started really coming alive.

It was soon after she started dating Chad that he witnessed her pouring honey into her mouth. That was when he immediately fell in love with her. After a two-month courtship Kameli and Chad got married. Chad had a super secret special surprise wedding gift for her.

With a cool harbor breeze blowing through their hair, Kameli and Chad stood on the deck of Chad’s yacht gazing at the intrepid moon. Slowly, Chad pulled a handful of blonde hair aside in order to kiss her ear. He then whispered, “Kameli.” (He just loved saying that.)

“Yes.”

“Guess where I’m taking you for our honeymoon?”

“You’re finally gonna tell me?”

Chad smiled, “Hawaii!”

They hugged and kissed and made out. Kameli felt like she was going home.

Kameli and Chad fell in love with Hawaii while on their honeymoon; so much so that they moved there. Eating copious amounts of honey in a paradise where it is neither too hot nor too cold, they lived happily ever after.
