PHOTO ESSAY SERIES

The Flying Banana

January Six Word Photo Story Challenge: “Self”

A shining happy face in yellow.

That’s me. When I’m in the air. I’m happy.

The Flying Banana” is my nickname. I got that name when I started skydiving back in Namibia. You guys all know I love yellow. While I’m not all in yellow on every jump, I do have a few outfits I wear in the sky where I fully look like a banana. In the sky. I actually have another post coming up with some more pictures for that.

I chose this picture instead of the other ones where I’m all in yellow just because of the smile on my face. I did this jump together with a friend of mine. I did some coaching with her and decided to smile. Because when I smile, she’ll smile. And when you’re smiling, you are more relaxed and can fly better.

Part six: The skydiving instructor.

I am taking part in the writing prompt where Mary Chang invited us to write on the topic of “self”. Describing myself in one photo and a short form post wasn’t for me, so I decided to create a series from it.
