PITFALL ART
The Fifth Column
Part 5: The final instalment of the July Sketch Song Poem Challenge

Then the aliens came and saw the strangest thing,
A planet where war was still surviving,
From the planet Galloomf, they galloot when they’ve laughed,
And the gallooting ain’t stopped from the moment it started,
These humans are crazy, but their dogs seem ok
Maybe would should take, them all away
And all of the animals, leave the humans here,
to live in the mess they’ve built with their fear,
And as for this money, talked of all the time,
We went out looking but none could we find,
Except for some paper, coloured green as the grass,
It seems like a fad that surely would pass,
But those crazy humans, they’ve now doubled down,
To let those they call bastard, buy up the town,
What is this species, that works in reverse?
We’ll leave them here on this planet they’ve cursed

So they packed their ship, ready to go
But still there were things they wanted to know
Why no respect for the things that they eat?
And why do the sedentary wear athlete’s feet?
Why do the rich think there’s no one to thank?
And why poison water that they’ve always drank?
Why fill the blue skies with smoke that is grey?
I guess there’s no answers, so let’s go away

So the aliens left, feeling slightly bemused,
After making suggestions that were rudely refused
And the aliens at least, left some of the plants,
Hoping the humans might somehow advance,
But the humans are vampires, feeding on their own blood,
Filtered through thoughts you’d think were a dud
The aliens also left behind, some of the birds,
and the humans soon died without all their herds
Then three million years later, right down the track,
Somehow the dinosaurs had all come back.
