The Eyes Have It
A poem about my home security system

A quiet presence what stories she could tell you from her vantage point
Peaceful demeanor but looks can be deceiving brain busy at work
Patiently surveils from her observation deck scanning the homestead
Motion detector often taking the night shift keeps vigilant watch
Never idle long thoroughly investigates ambiguous sounds
Scratching or rustling, things that go squeak in the night raise her alertness
What could be the cause? She cocks her head with intrigue up for the challenge
Keenly attentive a natural detective she begins her search
Gumshoe with gumption Sherlock has nothing on her appetite to sleuth
Elimination process — a non-trivial pursuit that takes time
An all-night stakeout sitting still as a statue waiting for her chance
With agility as stealthy as a ninja always gets her mouse
