The Everyday Monsters
Monsters never stop being monsters
“It is easier to resist at the beginning than at the end.” ― Leonardo da Vinci
tomorrow never dies but only at the expense of killing today.
every tomorrow I inevitably meet the monsters they never stop coming up monsters — doubt, uncertainty, fear, pain, resistance, confusion, unwillingness.
the monster I avoid today is the monster I will have to avoid tomorrow.
that day that tomorrow I could wake up without the burden of monsters besides my bed never happens.
the monsters I skipped today are the monsters that come up tomorrow also perhaps with more power and confidence to force me to skip another day — today.
today is that tomorrow I said yesterday but the monsters are still here and now.
there is no tomorrow when monsters stop being monsters
monsters don’t stop being monsters just because I hate them monsters don’t stop being monsters just because I have tomorrow monsters don’t stop being monsters just because I can skip today.
neither mindless doings nor mindless fleeings/distractions without any understanding stop monsters from being there.
after the cycle of distractions I will find myself back to zero with the same monsters and lesser strength to confront them but then I can either start or skip.
not skipping today also means to not skipping the monsters that came up today.
let them lose their power in ones’ daily conscious engagements by taking notice of them without pretending they aren’t there nor hoping they would disappear but only tomorrow
or perhaps they wouldn't lose power nor there is going to be a single day in one's life with the privilege of no more monsters for me to give a f**k anymore and if that’s the case we are forced to change our entire attitude has to change the goal is not to kill all monsters and rest but to cultivate the capacity to deal with them day by day
like when we go to the gym and is working out blindly so one could get fit fast and then rest that’s not going to be any good but if we are going there knowing very well that I will have to do this everyday until the last day of my life then my attitude shifts inevitably a shift from amateur to pro
Problems call forth our courage and our wisdom; indeed, they create our courage and our wisdom. It is only because of problems that we grow mentally and spiritually. It is through the pain of confronting and resolving problems that we learn.”― M. Scott Peck
